RIP in Chrome

Two weeks ago we finally had to put down Chrome. He has been part of our family for 7 years. We adopted him from the shelter Aug. 2003 a couple of months before we had Hadlie. He was the best dog ever!!! After having him for a week we took him to the Sand Dunes and he rode in the back of the truck and he never made a sound the whole 3hr trip there and back. He just kept his nose stuck between the bed and the cab of the truck and then the next time we took him for a ride he started barking and would bark the whole time we would drive. Everyone knew when the Kendrick's had arrived because you could literally hear him a mile away with that hound dog bark. He loved going to the sand dunes, he would run along side us and when he got tired he would turn around and go back to camp. He loved going to the cabin and one time he jumped out of the truck about 30 miles from the cabin cuz we turned a sharp curve and the cooler slid and so he thought he was going to get hit so he baled and we didn't notice he was gone until we were about four miles from the cabin. We looked and looked for him for four days. We even spent the night up in the canyon during a terrible storm trying to find him. We were so sad. But then we got a phone call and he made it to a cabin about two miles from ours. And the people were there so they called the number on his tag and we went and got him. He was pretty beat up and slept for a couple of days but he was fine. He loved to chase cars, only if they were speeding on our rode. NO one believed us until some tested our theory and if they were speeding he would chase and if they weren't he wouldn't. He loved to get the wild animals around here, we had no problem with racoons after we got him. What finally got the best of him was this stupid lump on his side. About five years ago we got it taken out and they left the drain in for a month and then it all closed up but then a year later it came back they took out plus some muscle and then it closed up again, but then about two years ago the holes opened back up plus a couple and drained puss all the time. It got to the point he could not walk one leg so he would hold it up and then his other leg was giving out also. He would hardly eat. He will be missed and already has been we loved lots!! He was Spank's best friend. He went everywhere with him. I could go on and on about him. We love you Chrome!!!!
